Speaker 1:

Star speakers excel. Star speakers are heard above the clamour of today's world, above all the many voices trying to be heard. To be a star speaker, you have to stand up above the masses, you have to shine. In my system, the Shine system, which I dealt with last week's podcast, today we're going to be dealing with the S, which stands for setup, and in this, the first thing you need to know is that you can deliver and will. Today's teaching will help you, not only in being effective and shining, but in life in general. To be confident. Set for dub takes time and effort, but you are more than worth it. Let's begin From today. At the beginning of every day, list at least five things for which you are grateful. This helps us to see the positive and opportunities rather than the problems and the negatives. These can be things simple, such as a beautiful flower, the dawning of a new day, a bird call, a lovely fragrance, the smell of fresh coffee, or there can be big things, such as waking up next to the one that you love, day after day after day, having a happy, healthy family, a promotion or a raise or winning the jackpot. There can be meaningful things. There can be good things. There must be good things.

Speaker 1:

Some people, before they even get up and are worried about this, the very first thing to do when in bed is to think about how grateful you are to have another day filled with opportunities, another day to love, another chance to be the best that you can be. And then, as you get ready and you go for that early morning cup of coffee, think with gratitude about all those many people that enabled this to happen. Think about the people that carefully chose the right seeds to plant, those that prepared the soil, those that nurtured the coffee plants, chose the right environment, watered, fed them, harvested them. Think about those that ground them, those that prepared the beans so that they could be just right for you, and those that put them into beautiful packaging. And those that did all that they could so that in the morning you could have your wonderful cup of coffee.

Speaker 1:

Thinking like this and especially taking the time and effort to write it down and please write it down it's been proven that this means so much more than just thinking of it. This helps a person to look out amongst all the problems, for the opportunities to live in a life where you are constantly grateful to others and that will reflect in your attitude towards them. If you notice the cheery greeting, you will be quicker to respond to the next person in the cheerful way. If you walk into the office in a good mood because you're thinking of all the wonderful way that people treated you on the way to work, you will be much more receptive to them and to their goodness, and they will be able to see that you like them and that will pave your day with good expectations on your part, on their part, and will, in the future, enable you to maybe even climb the ladder towards promotion, success, better friendships, better relationships. If, when you come home in the day, you are so busy thinking about how good the people were at work to you, how good the people were on the way back home, if you're concentrating on all the good things that your family have done for you, you will become the kind of person that children love to snuggle up to, because they can feel your goodness and your warmth, that your partner can feel your appreciation and that people not only like to work with you, but you will find that they give you more and more and more treats along the way, and you will also find that you want to give them more treats along the way. This kind of thinking and methodology works in the short term and especially in the long term. It takes a while for our minds to become accustomed to seeing the good, but as we do that, we will find our lives transform.

Speaker 1:

Then after that, just take a few minutes to write at least five things that you like about yourself. These can start off with small things. It could be just that you greeted someone, or that you write neatly, or that as a child you ran the N1 in a race. Or it could be something that every day you are the one who cleans up after others, or what could be that you're the one that others respect, or you like your hat, or you like your clothes, that you wear anything that makes you feel good. And try, when you can, to choose something that helps you in public speaking. Maybe you speak well, you've got a clear voice. Maybe you're developing a good vocabulary. Maybe you've got good grammar. Maybe people listen to you. Maybe you can speak loudly enough. Maybe you speak in a way that others can understand what you're saying Anything that helps you to feel good about yourself in an honest, constructive way.

Speaker 1:

Write this down. It won't take long, but if you do this every single morning, it will definitely pave your way in the long term towards a more receptive laugh, a better laugh, and towards building up your confidence so that when you finally go on that stage, you will exude confidence and belief. Something else to do also is, at night, before you go to bed, just focus on the good things that have happened and think about or write down two or three of the really meaningful things that have happened in that day. You will find that when you do this, you will sleep better and you will be refreshed in the morning. When you wake up, you will find that you are more positive in your outlook the next day as well. You will find that your whole life starts to get better as you start to focus on these things.

Speaker 1:

It may seem like something so small, but I can assure you this has been proven time and time again that people who are grateful live longer, healthier, happier lives, have better relationships with others, better health outcomes and better job and other promotions and opportunities, because you are looking for the opportunities and in doing so, you are finding them and making them happen. Next time, next podcast, I will deal with another way that will help you with your speaking in particular, help you to develop your vocabulary, help you to develop good grammar, help you to develop your syntax, help you to become confident when speaking out in front of others. I look forward to chatting with you again next time, meantime. Have a wonderful, wonderful week. Thank you for listening.
